West
Salem's 6th Cottage Garden Tour
It is time once again for the very different and unusual West Salem Cottage Garden Tour. If you think late summer is not the time for a garden tour, think again! Come out and see just how lovely a garden can be in late summer in North Carolina! The
West Salem neighborhood has a long history as a Cottage Garden community.
Many of the gardens still lovingly maintained here fall under this
category. Due to the much loved diversity of our neighborhood, you
will also find many traditional gardens as well as lovely “one-of-a-kind” gardens
to enjoy.
West Salem
was placed on the National List of Historic Places on January 19, 2005. Profit from the sale of Garden Tour tickets went towards the purchase
of five historic district markers that now can be seen in the outer edges of the neighborhood all all four sides. This year's profits will go toward building an amphitheatre in Granville Park as well as other community projects including the West Salem Community Garden.
While visiting
the gardens on this tour, please be respectful of the gardener's hard
work. Stay on pathways and do not pick flowers or damage plants in
any way. And be sure to thank the owners for sharing their gardens!
