West Salem, Downtown Living with a Small Town Feel!

National Neighborhood Night Out!

Neighbors gather in Granville Park for an annual national event to show nationwide unity in support of a crime free community. The festivities at historic Granville Park included FREE hot dogs, chips, and soft drinks as
well as the annual Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest. The West Salem Neighborhood Watch and West Salem Neighborhood Association sponsored the event. The following pictures are an indication of the fun you missed if you weren't there!

Gathering and preparation.

Friends and Neighbors enjoy freshly grilled hot dogs.

Lindsay Snyder talks with Captain Patricia Murray (rear of photo) of the WSPD while neighbors enjoy hot dogs and fellowship on a hot August evening.

There was no shortage of conversation during the gathering.

Jonathan Fritz, right foreground, next to Del Perry (in hat), talk with a mother and child who've come out for the fellowship and support of NNO. Del has that little girl moving so fast, the lens couldn't catch her!

Irma Jackson (rear, sitting) talks with one of her neighbors, while Irma's mother (in hat) enjoys her hot dog and conversation.

It was a good-sized turnout, over 100 people!

Bob Litaker's daughter, Debra, gives us a big smile! Obviously the evening was fun!
Dee Perry hams it up for the camera!
Back to front, Carol Faley talks with Patty Hoots (in chair) Dee Perry finishes her hot dog, Jonathan Fritz talks with his neighbor, while Beth Von Isenburg talks with someone outside the camera's lens.
